DIFFERENT TYPES OF BRACES TREATMENT AT WHITE DENTAL LOUNGE

Orthodontics is a field of dentistry that deals with corrections involving jaw and teeth alignment which can be achieved with the help of brackets which can be either metal braces or ceramic braces and also clear aligners to maintain the esthetics while correcting your smile.

Clear Aligners ( invisible brace or clear braces) are the most recent dental appliance used for teeth straightening.

FIVE STAGES OF AN ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT AT WHITE DENTAL LOUNGE

• Consultation Stage

The initial appointment can last for about 30 minutes to one hour, or depending on your case. During the consultation, impressions (Models ) of your upper and lower teeth will be taken through digital photographs and radiographs (OPG and Lateral cephalogram ), and evaluation of your occlusion or bite will be done.

Your orthodontist will then explain the treatment plan, various issues that need to be addressed and will discuss solutions and alternatives, and the possible risks and limitations. Additionally, fees and total time of the treatment will be explained.

• Bonding Stage

This is the stage when the braces are put on. This is a very intricate process where the bands and brackets are placed on your teeth. Your dentist will then glue or Bond the braces onto both your top sets of teeth and the metal bands will be fitted and cemented in place in molars. Then, wires will be tied and torqued, and the patient will have the freedom to choose color elastics – used to hold the wire in the slot on the bracket. Oral hygiene and proper home teeth care will be discussed as well.

• Regular Adjustments Stage

Routine appointments, typically every 4 weeks for at least half an hour, will be scheduled to enable your dentist to monitor progress or to do adjustments and wire modifications as needed. The braces are tightened, colored elastics are changed and broken brackets are replaced.

• Debonding Stage

After all the hard work, this is the stage when you can smile all you want as your braces are to be taken off. The brackets and bands are removed, the teeth are cleaned and polished and final photographs are taken. An impression is also taken for the final removable retainers.

• Retainer Stage

After the initial delivery of the retainers, an appointment will be set for final follow up. And checking retainer every six month for at least period of 1.5 to 2 years.

TREATMENT FOR A CLEAR ALIGNER

• Consultation Stage

The initial appointment can last for half and hour to one hour with the orthodontist taking digital scan for both your upper and lower arches with Intraoral scanners along with photographs of your facial profile and upper and lower dental arches.Evaluation of your occlusion or bite will be done.

Your orthodontist will then explain the treatment plan, various issues that need to be addressed along with the solutions and alternatives. Additionally, fees and total time of the treatment will be explained. These scans are then sent to our Invisalign team and the process of manufacturing the aligners starts.

• Bonding Stage

When the aligners are delivered, we start with the process of bonding the attachments of the aligners on the tooth surface. This is a very simple process of placing composite attachments onto your tooth surface which can be easily detached once your treatment is comnpleted without damaging your natural tooth structure. After the attachments are bonded, aligners are delivered to the patient and he is explained about the duration of wearing an aligner and other instructions that come handy to make the orthodontic journey a little more easy.

• Debonding Stage

Once the teeth are corrected and properly aligned, the composite attachments are detached, the teeth are cleaned and polished and final photographs are taken. An impression is also taken for the final removable retainers.

• Retainer Stage

An appointment will be set for final follow up and the retainers will be delivered to maintain the new corrected position of the teeth as the newly positioned teeth tends to get back to its previous position so retainers are a MUST. Retainer is required for six month or at least period of 1.5 to 2 years.
